Events and Parties

A cocktail hour, a milestone birthday, an anniversary party, a company holiday do, a memorial where somebody wants one particular song sung properly. I sing at events around Maryland, Washington, and Virginia, on my own or with a full band behind me, and I have been doing it for twenty-five years.

Solo and small. For cocktail hours, dinner sets, and receptions, standards and jazz with backing tracks, or acoustic with a guitarist. This is the quiet end of what I do, and it is built for a room where people still want to hear each other talk.

With a full band. I front Cover Story, a Maryland cover band playing classic rock, modern pop, soul, and country. For a bigger room we bring in a sound and lighting engineer rather than running our own PA, and the quote covers the whole thing so you are not chasing three separate invoices.

The announcements and the awkward bits. I can MC if you need one. Bridal party announcements, first dances, cake cuttings, and toasts are all things I have done many times, mostly through telegram work, where reading a room in the first thirty seconds is the entire job.

Repertoire. Thirty-four songs gig-ready right now and more than fifty in rotation, across classic rock, modern pop, soul, and country, with standards and jazz on top of that. Send me your must-plays and I will learn them. Send me your keys and I will match them.

Where and when. Baltimore, Washington, Annapolis, and most of northern Virginia. Saturdays are tight until the Maryland Renaissance Festival wraps on 25 October, though I can often get out with notice, and after that I am open straight through the holiday season.

What it costs. Quoted per event, because a solo cocktail hour and a four-hour party with a full band and an engineer are not remotely the same job. Tell me the date, the room, roughly how many people, and how long you want music for, and you get a real number back.
